I’ll admit I’m just a low-key explorer! Just recently we went to Italy for 2 weeks and all of the posts below are related to that trip. After I finish our Italy reviews, I will go back and delve into other locations such as Alaskan Cruise, San Francisco/Bay Area, Caribbean Cruise, Local New England Attractions and more…!
Vatican Last Stop! (Day 13)
Our visit was quite the mixed blessing. We stopped by Vatican Museums, St. Peter’s Basilica, St. Peter’s Square and of course the gift shop before parting ways with our fellow travelers.
Rome Guide & Hotel Misadventures (Days 11-14)
Usually business responses are appreciated, however Romanico Palace deserves the undistinguished title of “beyond redemption”. We made the best of a terrible situation and enjoyed our time in Rome! We still had an amazing time enjoying the city itself rich in history and entertainment.
Ancient Pompeii Ruins (Day 11)
Explore the ruins of Pompeii in the extremely well preserved town! I lived out my middle/high school Latin coursework and visited the site of the Mount Vesuvius volcanic eruption.
Anacapri & Capri (Day 10)
Continuing cliffhanger from Amalfi where Dana lost his hat. We found so many treasures in Capri and more amazing “Mamma Mia” views. In retrospect I should have generously applied the SPF! We enjoyed a relaxing ride up the Monte Solaro chair lift for spectacular views and a boat tour of the harbor.
Amalfi & Giant Lemons (Day 9)
Our favorite destination on my first Italy trip! Find out more about the iconic giant lemons and unforgettable moments. Can’t wait to revisit already.
Artena & Naples (Days 8 – 10.5)
“Vedi Napoli e poi muori! — See Naples and die!” Why are so many visitors smitten with this region of Italy? Best pizza and dessert!
Siena & Sloped Streets (Day 7)
Last day in Tuscany, we visit the Medieval town of Siena. (Arch rivals with Florence.)
Vino Infinito – Cinque Terre & Vineyard (Day 6)
Iconic 5 villages of Italy. Just look at those ingenious terraces onto the side of the rock formation! To end the day of sampling the famous Cinque Terre wine we also visited a vineyard in Montecarlo.
Forgetting Florence (Day 5)
Coming back almost a decade after my husband first visited. Originally he wanted to propose to me in the Bobali Gardens. We finally arrived to the most famous city of Tuscany and live our dream honeymoon.
Montecatini Mostly by Night (Days 4.5-7)
Under the Tuscan Sun… not to be confused with the Romantic Comedy movie. Our journey through Tuscany started and ended each day in the quiet town of Montecatini. We spent the longest time on our trip in Tuscany and treated ourself to a meal fit for a Princess.
Rolling Tuscany: Lucca (Day 4)
Lesser known gem of Tuscany, Lucca won us over with their surprising charm and resourcefulness. One of the most prominent features is their large wall encompassing the whole town. It’s wide enough for people to bike on!
