Wedding Look #MarriedinModCloth

Wedding Wednesday post on a Tuesday?! Yes I wanted to do a special final* post in the Series to celebrate our 100 Days of Marriage! As the title suggests, my outfit was 95% comprised of attire I purchased from ModCloth, a trendy vintage inspired clothing website. It’s honestly one of my FAVORITE websites and I’ll include a summary review of my overall impression. It’s a shame I didn’t find out about their #MarriedinModCloth hashtag until recently when I saw they are celebrating their 15th Birthday on Instagram! I’m afraid my wedding photo share posts are so far back now that they wouldn’t scroll back to feature. (It’s not even in the same season!)

Oh well! If you are curious you can take a peak at what I wore or used for the Wedding Day look. Much to my own surprise I even fulfilled the well known bridal rhyme.
Something old, (Jacket mom gave me that used to be hers)
something new, (Almost my entire outfit)
something borrowed, (Bracelet from bridesmaid)
something blue, (Shoes, shoes shoes!)
and a [silver] sixpence in her shoe. (Sneakily taped/tucked in shoe)

My mom took this photo in the Cocktail lounge as we waited to walk down the aisle one by one!

Day of Outfit ($282)

Apologies, some items may be Out of Stock (OOS). Hope you can find something similar if inspiration strikes.

HEADPIECEWed the Time is Right Fascinator OOS,($17)
I got this on sale on the website so unfortunately it’s no longer available but I’ve linked the page of hats/hair accessories. They sometimes update with more! I got the idea from my Tea Party themed Bridal Shower where I wore a pink fascinator. It had one large clip under the cap/hat portion to fasten it to your hair. It was not very secure so I’m glad that my bridesmaids helped me fasten it with 2 curved bobby pins!

DRESSChi Chi London Sparkling Celebration Midi Dress in Ivory ($140)
I fell in love with the dress the moment I saw it! I stalked the listing and waited until I saw a sale and swooped in to purchase my Something new. Sometimes ModCloth has sales of up to 40% off and the original price was $200 (still very affordable compared to any bridal salon pick). When I received it in the mail I was terrified that it wouldn’t fit or be too long. As you can see it’s more of a Tea Length dress on average height people. It turned out to fit me perfectly in every way and I didn’t even need any alterations. (It was meant to be right?!)

CAPELET – Cape It With You in Ivory by Melody OOS ($32)
Seems like an Indie brand from South Korea? Got this on sale as well so it’s OOS. I loved this cape so much it was so soft and warm on the chilly day for the outdoor ceremony.

NECKLACE – Zodiac Sheep Gold Necklace from Maternal Grandfather
During September 2016 my grandfather visited us from China and he gave me this beautiful gold necklace. I couldn’t think of any other more fitting accessory since I hardly ever wear jewelry. No links, it’s priceless!

BRACELET – Pearl Beaded Bracelet with Silver Enclosure
Something borrowed from one of my bridesmaids! Apparently it was too big for her wrist so she let me use it in my wedding day look.

SHOES – Qupid Gallant Show Winner Wedges OOS ($18)
Something blue! I knew that we would be on grass for a portion of the photos so I also recommended my bridal party wear wedges if possible so our feet wouldn’t sink in. I loved these shoes so much for dancing. I didn’t need to change until probably 4.5 hours into the night! Also if you zoom in about 10x to the photo of my holding up my dress for a peak at my shoes you can see the side of the sixpence in one of the shoes.

PETTICOAT – Hell Bunny Va Va Voluminous Petticoat in White – Long ($60)
Sad trombone… I didn’t buy this one on sale! However, it’s on sale now and OOS. Can’t win them all right?! I contemplated getting one from Amazon for less than half of the price but went with ModCloth instead because of their easy return policy! The only downside was that it takes about 3 weeks for them to process and give you the credit. Also all of the ones on Target were more costume-esque petticoats. The petticoat itself cannot be worn on its own since it’s quite sheer in the waist area. It definitely helped make the dress more full and flowy!

STRAPLESS BRA – Maidenform® Self Expressions® Women’s Full Support Convertible Strapless Bra 5032 ($15)
Originally I was going to go bra-less or wear a regular nude colored bra. However, taking a second look in the mirror I noticed the lace detail in the sweetheart neckline and the back would not look good! This strapless bra did the trick and the wide band with 3-4 hook enclosures kept it in place all day! I also toyed with the idea of getting the stick on bras but those seemed to be one time use.

Beauty Look

Finally my makeup addiction pays off?!

I’m not going to list the prices and total for these since I had already purchased them, and will continue to use them haha (and partly because I fear that probably if I added everything up it’s going to be MORE than what I spent on my day of outfit). I did all of my own makeup and hair. Let me tell you, it was quite the morning of mess ups and spraying myself square in the mouth with hair spray.

ModCloth Rating: 4.5/5 ★★★★1/2
They could be better with their price adjustment policy only on items purchased at full price in 7 days. But otherwise I love this place and their sales have slowly been replacing my wardrobe of clothing! When I had an issue ordering an item or applying a coupon code their Customer Service online was very responsive. They got back to me via e-mail and I was able to add the item! I also can’t resist their random quirky gifts section hence how I started onto the fascinators trend. They have a sizable selection in their Wedding section of their website! I bought some very cute photo booth props as an add-on, which I would not recommend without reservation, since they did not provide nearly enough wooden dowels or any glue dots… As they were on sale the price was right. I purchased my own glue gun and repurposed from a failed Valentine’s Day purchase.

Almost every time they gave me the option for ModCloth AmEx offer of $15 statement credit for $75+, I’ve taken advantage of it. Just recently an even sweeter deal was stacking this with $30 refund credit on $150+ via RetailMeNot and Paypal!

*Final may not be quite final if I do decide to submit a post to APracticalWedding and it most likely gets rejected! There’s more milestones and this turned out to be more fun than I thought!
