Yelp Cash Back Saga: Part 3 New Features

UPDATE 10/11/17: $30.20 Savings to date. After reviewing my previous statements I just noticed that depending on whether you have multiple cards the one you set as PRIMARY is the one you will receive the cash back credit from Yelp each month. I only realized this after seeing a random credit of -$1.82 on a recently inactive card!

When we thought we were done with this story, Yelp goes and adds NEW Features! I highly approve of the additions. The Saga continues… If you’re wondering what Yelp Cash Back is, then please take a moment to read Part 1 Overview and Part 2 Successful Redemption & Review of the Saga before reading on! I haven’t figured out a way to update & republish older blog posts on WordPress just yet so I’m making a Part 3.

That’s right in Yelp’s funky new website layout you can now go directly to your profile to see how much Cash Back you have logged to date! I love the transparency instead of waiting aimlessly for your cash back/prince to show up. You can also see when the next payout date will be and check on your credit card statement. Obviously the Cash Back is only viewable to you when you’re logged in and not to the public. I honestly was not originally a fan of the layout with a huge featured image taken by a user (never mine) as the background. However, the new features are handy!

This screen in your profile shows monthly statement credit you’ll receive! Most are 7%, except the Shawarma Falafel unicorn at 10%.

Have you had a chance to try out the Yelp Cash back feature?
Let me know if you have / plan to and what your thoughts are on the program! I have several more places to try on my list, I’m sure you’re positively on the edge of your seat for the subsequent reviews!

  1. What’s great about it is I’ll go to a restaurant not knowing that they offer the Yelp Cash Back program and then be pleasantly surprised when I use a linked card (I’ve got all of them in the system, just in case) and get an award for doing basically nothing. I wish more restaurants offered the program but now that I know of a few in my area, I have returned to them for repeat business, knowing that I will get a discount. I’m approaching $10 in total, not a ton but most have been at breakfast and ice cream joints where my bill is rarely above $10, anyway. Never a program getting the cash credit on my card the following month, it’s been seamless.

    • Great thanks so much Jeff for sharing your own experience on using this! What a pleasant surprise. I’ve actually used the filter in some areas to see if there are any businesses with their filter! Many of them have been great only a few average. That’s great you haven’t had to manually contact them to redeem the cash back.

Hoping more and more businesses will be added in the future :)!

  2. Thanks for documenting all this. You’ve convinced me to try this myself.
7-10% cash back is really generous. Might as well try it while they’re still this high.
